Snowflake 2014

January 30, 2014 § Leave a comment

There was snow in Atlanta this week. A lot of it for our fair city, and while there was a lot of drama surrounding this winter weather event, and I’m not going to touch on that here, many kids had a blast with the white stuff. Here are a few of my favorite moments with my kids:

Red Sky in the morning

I woke up to this in the North Georgia mountains yesterday. It was seriously cold (by Southern standards) and seriously beautiful.

New Quilt Shop

January 23, 2014 § 3 Comments

I found out about a new shop yesterday, Sew Main Street. It’s in downtown Woodstock, so it’s pretty close, but more importantly, they carry fabrics and notions for heirloom sewing.

I’m not all that I to heirloom sewing, but I’ve always thought it beautiful. And time consuming, which is funny coming from a quilter.

My sister-in-law is getting married in July and I’m working on a project for her. I won’t disclose any details or photos, but I needed delicate fabric.

I did pick up a few items for myself while I was there (of course). Some good for the stash pieces, and this adorable fabric from Timeless Treasures.

Round Robin – part one

January 8, 2014 § 2 Comments

Last July, seven of my quilt friends and I gathered forces and decided to do a round robin. The rules are loose:
1. We have six months to complete our part and send it to the next person.
2. We are sending our quilts to each other in alphabetical order. Straightforward and we won’t lose our places.
3. No size constraints.

Over the past few months I’ve heard that several if us are sending along fabric. For continuity, of course. And my friend Mary had the brilliant idea to send a label so we can each sign it. Awesome.

I have a lot of flowers, leaves, and well, work, left to make but here’s a sneak peak of my center.
