Transformation

So. I found this quilt at a local antique shop. I’m not sure if it was the pattern or the pink cotton ball fabric but I was immediately in love. I also saw possibilities and wanted to transform the quilt into something current.

An obvious way would be to make the quilt in new fabric, maybe changing the scale of the blocks or sashing but that said boring and uncreative to me. I knew I could do better so I started drawing the blocks back as if they had no sashing. The resulting pattern was fantastic! Seriously. It had swoon factor in a pencil sketch.

I decided to template piece the top because, while paper piecing would definitely work, I didn’t want to have diamond blocks with seams in them. I wanted a sleek pieces.

I’ve been on a huge pink kick lately so decided to raid my stash of pink and green. Lots of Kaffe Fassett and some of my other designers in the top. I love it!
